Bill and Tom at Much Music in Canada - adorable pictures and an interview to follow, over here.
In an article by Web.de, they reveal Tokio Hotel are regarded as bigger than Rammstein and want to take over Asia and South America next! Thanks to THUS for translations:
Just unbelievable, what kind of movement our hottest music export makes in America.
The success story of the Kaulitzs sounds like the beginning of a book. Now they are playing small gigs in sold out clubs like the Fillmore in New York, where also Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Frank Zappa have performed. As can be seen in February, the New York Times showed painted faces on their front page of their issue.
Then they performed at US-music station MTV, where they promoted their English album Scream on 6 May. After that they had a great turn out of screaming fans at their CD signing in Times Square.
Followed by a performance on the great Late Night Show. That’s what the boys did last Saturday night at Conan O’Brien, which in America is the place to be for hilarious moments. They performed their success hit: Ready, Set, Go, and straightened the road to great success.
Only the language barrier has turned out as a little obstacle, while singer Bill hasn’t really got the natural talent for English.
“To really bear his English singing you really have to be carefree,” tells brother Tom, after the Rolling Stone’s gentle judgment, Bill’s extraordinary pronunciation only makes Tokio Hotel more charming. Now, with their TV performance they have a German premiere. The US market is really hard for foreign artists, even the English artist Robbie Williams was completely ignored in America, same goes for Australian Kylie Minogue, that didn’t even make it into the top 100 of the charts with her new album.
From Germany Nena had a hit with “99 luftballons”. The Scorpions had a top 10 hit with “wind of charge”, Rammstein had some little success.
But no German has ever made the big break.
Outside Tokio Hotel? Universal chief Briegmann tells to FAZ: “As it looks now we are gonna enter in the top 50 Billboard charts.” And once America is conquered it will go much further. Next year Briegmann wanna take over Asia and South America.

BILD Interview:
Translated by Tokio Hotel US:
Germany's most successful rock band "Tokio Hotel" are still on their promotion tour in the USA for their English album "Scream" ("Schrei"). They flew after a tv-performance in New York to Los Angeles at the weekend, where they will perform today a concert. BILD talked with the twins Bill (18) and Tom Kaulitz (18) about their success in America.
BILD: You've just arrived in Los Angeles. What is the difference for you between L.A. and New York?
Bill: These are two entirely different worlds for me. New York is much more European. L.A. is more like what a European imagines as America.
BILD: Tomorrow you'll play the first complete concert after Bill's OP in Hollywood. Are you excited?
Bill: Yes, sure, shit, we're in panic because of our excitement. Furthermore it's the only US-concert. We are always nervous, but this time it's even worse.
BILD: How do you feel now after you're so successful in the USA?
Tom: We are so happy about the big fan-resonance here in the USA, but nevertheless I see the whole thing more as a first succès dèstime.
BILD: You call that a succès dèstime? Usually you're not that modest.
Tom: Don't worry, when we talk the next time about girls, then I'll be immodest again for sure (laughs) No, seriously: I believe the really big USA-success will only come with complete new and worldwide not released songs. We have the aim to release the third album worldwide at the same time.
Bill: But we're of course very happy anyway and thankful for what happens here right now in the USA. Some months ago we would never have expected that. But we just don't want to overrate the US-success so far.

*Bravo released this picture and article of Bill in their latest edition, describing Bill as a loser on the image. Translation credits to Narin @ tokiohotel.org.uk!
"Nothing but money-hungry or what? Tokio Hotel have written a miserable letter to the chancellor Angela Merkel. That is to say, millionaire Bill Kaulitz (18) fears that he doesn’t get enough in his account anymore due to illegal internet downloads. The country should now hunt down the girls who cannot afford expensive Tokio Hotel things with their 15-Euro pocket money. A punishment for true fans!"

How awesome was it to have Tokio Hotel blog on Alloy?! They may not be giving us weekly updates, but we haven't lost touch with our fave German boys, Bill, Tom, Georg, and Gustav! Wanna know what these hotties look for in a girl? Read on!
What's the difference between your US and European fans?
Bill: Every fan is really different and individual. But what they all have in common is the energy they show. I like to call our fans very energetic, engaged and intense. We always say our nightmare would be an audience that applauses politely. Fortunately, our fans are completely the opposite - they are everywhere we go and welcome us loudly and very powerfully. They scream and sing along with us all the time. We love, love that. And we were really glad to find out that the American fans share that energy!
How does it feel to have such a fan base in the US before your album was even released?
Tom: We were absolutely blown away! It was incredible. When we got the chance to go to Canada and America, we were flattered, but we didn't expect such a reaction at all. We just thought, "Great! Let's go over there and see what happens." Then we found out that our shows were all sold out even though we've never been to the States. Remember when we were walking on Sunset Boulevard and a car drove by and the people rolled down the window and screamed, "Welcome to America, guys!"?
Georg: Yes, that was incredible.
Bill: We couldn't wish for anything more!

Here Tokio-Bill is strutting through Soho
And where did his mega hair go anyway?
Again the boys from “Tokio Hotel”.
I can’t get over it, I’ve never seen Bill [18] look so casual like in this photo.
Made during a stroll down Soho (Part of Manhattan, New York)
Outfit: Normal (t-shirt, jeans, college jacket, sunglasses). Escort: Common (Brother Tom, producer David Jost). Hair: Jippieh! (I am happy not seeing the – hedgehog – I put my finger in a socket hairdo). Seems really cool, the boy. I can’t see the darkened eyes, finally a human look. I really like it.
After taking a better look and comparing the photos from stage Bill and Private Bill I wonder: Does Bill wear a wig when he is on stage? Yes, yes, I know, it’s a hairdo from Magdeburg and so, flick up, colouring and ready is the Kill-Bill, but I am kinda insecure. Admitted, he is wearing it down, that’s clear.
*From the Washington Post:
Forget the New Kids on the Block reunion. Millions of teenage girls are freaking out over the hottest new boy band, Tokio Hotel. Of course, you’re forgiven if you’ve never heard of this four-piece German outfit, who’ve earned a U.S. fan base in the last few years thanks to concert clips available on YouTube. So when the band came to play its first American shows in February, fans lined up hours beforehand to catch a set of energetic, glammy emo-pop songs, many of which are on its English-language debut, “Scream.”
Tokio Hotel’s first record was performed in German, so it’s likely that English-speaking fans were more taken with the band members’ divergent physical appearances. Frontman Bill Kaulitz looks like a cross between a Japanese anime cartoon and Nikki Sixx; guitarist Tom Kaulitz (Bill’s twin brother) sports Axl Rose-style dreadlocks; drummer Gustav Schaefer resembles Spencer Pratt from MTV’s “The Hills”; bassist Georg Listing, strangely enough, could pass for Steely Dan’s Walter Becker in the ’70s.
But what about the music? For what it is — slickly produced, thoroughly modern rock songs with calm verses and seize-the-day choruses — it’s not terrible. Title track “Scream” is powered by crunchy guitar riffs, arena-ready beats and Bill Kaulitz’s adenoidal croon, while “Don’t Jump” is the kind of soaring, string-laden ballad that could work on the soundtrack to a big-budget action movie.
As a hyper-sensitive young man, Bill Kaulitz writes lyrics that often address breaking away from some vague apocalyptic nightmare, and he typically wants to take a special someone along for the journey. No doubt one of his female fans would accept the invitation. But, as is the ephemeral nature of the boy band, you have to wonder: Would she say yes five years from now?
But beneath that base cap it doesn’t look like that big do – “Tokio Hotel” is moving on in New York, working there way down the list. Today a interview with Rolling Stone magazine, tomorrow the late night show “Conan O’Brien”, and Sunday a flight to L.A., on the 13th a concert in “Avalon” in Hollywood, on the 14th on to Canada, Toronto, Montreal. The first German concert since the surgery of Bill will be on the 13th of June in Westfallenhalle.
Update on Bill’s vocal condition: “Pleasant again, nevertheless, we are still closely watching it, that Bill will take his rest”, writes Jost to me.

Destinorock.com have made a very interesting review on Tokio Hotel. I've highlighted the bits in bold that you may find, well, worrying quite frankly!
Last Saturday 3rd the German band Tokio Hotel took part in the Bamboozle festival, near New York. A lot had been said about the hurried comeback of the recently operated Bill Kaulitz. What's true is that Tokio Hotel's presence in the festival was only a public act where music was only anecdotal. They sang 3 songs, but they could have only played one, and having the same result. To see and be seen.
The main goal of the German band's management is to get into USA. The American market is the big goal and the key that could open the rest of countries they still have to "conquer". It isn't worth for TH being "demigods" in France if in the English market they are only another band like the rest. The trial of getting into Great Britain was not very successful. "Ready Set Go" entered into a modest TOP 77 and it disappeared only a week after from the British TOP 100.
Trying to sell English people a music band is like trying to sell Chinese a calculator. If it's not internationally recognized for some reason, is almost impossible to reach their markets.
Taking advantage of the band's presence, this week is going to be released "Scream" in USA. Knowing how much they are risking, they have invested a lot in Marketing. Very reliable sources have informed us that, if management's plans go on (till now they have always) their headquarters, also band members, could leave Germany and move in a near future to America. The list of artists having done the same is never ending. The last one, Leona Lewis.
All the reviews from Bamboozle seem to be good! However, more bad reviews from America - this one is from Herald Net. Ouch, it bites!
Tokio Hotel, "Scream" (Interscope)
It would be easy to tear into Tokio Hotel for its ridiculous lyrics. Since I'm feeling lazy, I will.
The stylized teenyboppers -- who come from Germany, not Japan -- write muddled verses which, for their sake, I hope sound better in their mother tongue. Some examples from the group's new album: "I say your name in silence. You don't want to hear it right now."
I say that makes no sense.
"Hope forever died. It shouldn't really be that way."
Gee, you think?
With a sappy blend of self-pity and self-righteousness, the lines border on offensively dumb.
You might suspect the music would be better. It, after all, doesn't have to overcome a language barrier. But sadly, no. The group's mix of metal and emo sounds by the numbers and lifeless.
Granted, this band isn't actually about songcraft. It's about style. Again, that's a shame, because the group looks kind of dumb.
Tokio Hotel's pin-up front man, Bill Kaulitz, wears his spiky hair and eye shadow like an anime character. His twin brother, Tom Kaulitz, sports dreadlocks and a baseball cap for the St. Louis Cardinals -- odd fashion statements for an 18-year-old from Germany.
The group has managed to sell millions of albums overseas and is billed as the biggest thing to come out of Germany this decade. Of course, Germany didn't have the bar set too high.
Maybe I'm not the target market for this group. I am, after all, not a teenage girl. Buzz-building appearances in New York City sent the young ladies into histrionics. They screamed.
I can understand wanting to do the same, but for different reasons.

In an interview, which you can see exdlusively on bild.de, Bill speaks about his fears before and after the surgery.
"The diagnosis was a shock," says the singer.
"I was afraid that I never could speak again."
After the surgery he couldn't speak, laugh or harrumph about ten days: "I never thought that I would make it. But the fear for my voice was too great."
As Bill could speak again, his voice wasn't familiar for him. "It sounded funny, somehow alien. But it was over after a few days."
Will he ever sing again without fear?
Bill: "I will never forget this experience and probably I'm never completely without worries. But I've survived and I hope it never happens again."

Bill speaks out
Here is the answer to the worlds emo-fans.
Tokio Hotels singer Bill Kaulitz, 18, talks
out about his operation.
- I want to thank everyone for their support, says
Kaulitz.
Tokio Hotel canceled their concert cause of a
Bill's vocal cords problem and operation. But
overall everything seems to have gone as planned.
Kaulitz talks with his clear throat and says to their
fans that he is really looking forward to the next gigs
coming up now. For us Swedes their won't be any
concert this summer.
- But their is hope of being one
in the fall. As soon as anything is decided we'll
inform you, says Anna Sjölund from Live Nation.
ZDF Leute heute 29.04.2008:
Translated by Narin @ tokiohotel.org.uk
Tokio Hotel has its voice back. Four weeks after his larynx operation, the 18-year-old has now spoken his first word in public. And of course, he directed it to his fans. Das Bild listened to what he had to say and we see the fans delighted that Bill is back. Juliana Helm and Anna Hacke (?) report.
For four weeks had the fans heard not a syllable, not a sound from their Bill. But while his voice was being treated, the teen-star understood exactly how touchingly his fans cared about him. So, firstly a thank-you:
“Hey people, I’m Bill. I want to thank you once again for... for all the support you showed me in the time I didn’t have my voice. It truly wasn’t easy and I’m sorry. It was really great to see that you all stayed with me and how you sent me so much. Many, many thanks, it truly made me happy. It’s a really good feeling to see how everyone is always there every time.”
He sounds quite as fit again he was before the operation and the 18-year-old sill had more good news for everyone who was so bitterly disappointed about the concert in Dortmund:
“I’m looking forward to the concert and I’m pleased that we can do the Dortmund concert here in Germany after all, it was very very important to me that I could play this concert. I’ve already seen that you’ve waited and I’m looking forward to finally seeing you and then to give the concert. Many, many thanks.”
But the most important thing for the fans is that Bill finally has his voice again. The news has spread like fire amongst the teenagers today:
[Girl] “I’m just so happy that the concerts can take place again.”
Tomorrow, Tokio Hotel breaks America for the first time. They had to cancel eleven concerts there too because of Bill’s vocal rehab. The German fans at least remain Bill’s communication.
With that, the waiting time until their return is perhaps a bit easier to bear.
Canadian newspapers such as The Gazette and The Toronto Sun have picked up on the Canadian Tokio Hotel concerts - great promotion. It looks like they're going to be really popular over there!
